Solution

Grid-Scale Storage

Utility-scale battery energy storage from 5 MWh containers to 80 MW / 160 MWh plants for arbitrage, grid services and standalone BESS.

The challenge

Why grid-scale storage now

Volatile wholesale prices and rising renewable penetration make standalone, utility-scale BESS a core grid asset — but only if it is bankable, safe and delivered on time.

  • Day-ahead and intraday price spreads reward storage that can charge low and discharge high at MW/MWh scale.
  • Grids need fast frequency response, capacity and stability services as conventional generation retires.
  • EPCs and developers need standardized, certified building blocks — not bespoke one-offs — to keep CAPEX and schedule predictable.

How it works

How a grid-scale plant is built

Standardized containers and integrated blocks combine into AC blocks and full plants, all under one EMS.

  1. 01

    5 MWh container

The SKTESS5000 LFP container (314 Ah cells, liquid-cooled) is the standard energy building block.

  2. 02

    10 MWh / 5 MW block

The SKTESS10000-5000K pairs 10 MWh with a 5 MW central PCS as a pre-integrated AC block.

  3. 03

    Prefab inverter substation

    SKTESS2500K / 5000K / 10000K prefabricated inverter substations add PCS plus medium-voltage step-up in one skid.

  4. 04

    Plant & grid

Blocks scale to 20 MWh AC blocks and 80 MW / 160 MWh plants, coordinated by a plant-level EMS, with optional grid-forming control.

FAQ

Frequently asked

How large can a SAKETE grid-scale plant be?

Plants are modular: a single 5 MWh container scales through 10 MWh / 5 MW blocks and 20 MWh AC blocks up to 80 MW / 160 MWh and beyond, all under one plant EMS.

Is the PCS and step-up transformer included?

Yes. Utility-scale delivery is turnkey: central PCS and medium-voltage step-up are provided as prefabricated inverter substations (SKTESS2500K / 5000K / 10000K class).

Can SAKETE deliver at grid scale today?

Yes. SAKETE was awarded 1.1 GWh of standalone BESS in Bulgaria’s Next Generation EU RESTORE programme, alongside containerized 5 MW / 10 MWh deployments in Europe.

Does it support grid-forming and which grid codes apply?

Grid-forming control is available as an option. PCS options are grid-code compliant for European connection (EN 50549, VDE-AR-N 4105, G99, IEC 62116 anti-islanding), confirmed per project and country.
